Before i stepped into uni, i could never understand why seniors around me hated NUS with all their guts. Now, after a year, i can absolutely identify why. Actually, it doesn't take someone more than a semester to condemn this world class university. Read: World Class University. It makes me laugh to think that this particular university is a world class university providing world class education but low class, substandard services. Seriously, what is the point of having a new Student's Service Centre when you're nothing more than creating an illusional mask. I would feel a lot more comforted, if you'd done away with all these pretense, you know?

Firstly, let me complain and whine like how a typical singaporean does. Just today, I was at the library trying to retrieve this journal, which i was restricted to download once due to copyrights reason. I appraoched the RBR counter since that was where i was suppose to head to, at least according to the instructions given in dreadful IVLE. Then lady number 1 told me that i should proceed to loan desk 4 because she was not sure of the procedure. Fair enough, i give you the benefit of doubt that you're unsure. While waiting at loan desk 4, i noticed that 20mins had gone past and i was still not served.Shortly, i heard lady number 2 asking lady number 1 who was suppose to be on duty at loan desk 4. Lady number 1 said lady number 3 is suppose to be there but she is at the reception area. So lady number 1 came to me and told me to proceed to the reception.

At this point, i was about to___ them but i decided that i should exercise some graciousness and give them a chance to exhibit their so-called professionalism. I was totally put off by the fact that my simple request to borrow a journal required so many referals. Seriously la, i won't freaking steal your journal ! It's boring SC2101 for crying out loud. Why couldn't one of the many ladies that was talking just bloody take out the journal and let me zap my damn readings? It was not like you were all busy! At this point, you might think that i am being an unreasonable bitch right?

Read on.

While at the reception, i spoke to lady number 3 and i felt that i needed to burn down the library at that moment. After nearly 30 mins of referals, she told me that she was not authorized to lend me the journal! She told me I have to call this other lady ( which i presume is lady number 4) to ask her for advice. WHAT? When i heard that, i rolled my eyes so unforgivingly, told her that I do not appreciate being pushed around for 30 minutes, and i left.

So much about Public Service 21. Wake up your ideas la. Im not saying that such a dream is to be materialised instantaneously. But i defintely think that singapore is STILL very very far from this ideal. Moreover, we're talking about world class university here. This episode is a downright bad reflection of a world class university. I would imagine better services with more professionalism. I work in the service line and i definitely understand what it is like to be at the front line. It is not easy at all. Precisely because it isn't , the more i think we should not just acclaim something to be world class so ever readily. Perhaps, a more thorough examination needs to be given to the relation between, 'NUS' and 'World Class'.

Of course this is not enough to put it down as a world class university. Nonetheless, if you are a world class university, give me a more legitimate reason to believe so. I pay $6000 a year, not only to receive a world class education. It would be a more pleasant 4 year stay if the library treats the students with more respect.

Then again, to be fair to the library, i know there are spoilers in the university who steal journals, tear journals or what nots. How unbecoming of undergraduates. Practice some graciousness and consideration la. I know so well in my heart which kinda students i hate most and to be safe, this is a public blog which needs to be less public, ironically.

It's been so long .

The Break Up was quite thought provoking. Not forgetting the galore of a steaming hot lead actress.Critics have it that they just shelled out money to watch a couple break up for 2 hours only to witness a super bad ending of the movie. On my part, i feel that yes it may be a simple break up for the ending but aren't we all pissed tired with watching movies that focusses on honeymoon moments of every couple and cliche happily-ever aftter movies. The ending has allowed them to move on , leading separate lives in search of possibly more happiness. Isn't it good? I mean if ironing out all your differences have come to a standstill , and they've really got nothing more to give for the party involved, perhaps it will be a wiser choice in the further future. I don't think it is that depressing for them to realize that they don't belong to each other and set each other free in search of more happiness.

Pause.

Alright so the couple didn't get back together and it really was a wise choice on the director's part. Think about it, if they had gotten back together, wouldn't you feel like wtf? Besides, the movie is titled The Break Up. It wouldn't have made much sense to end it the lovey sappy way, would it?

Pause.

And with so much of drama involved in the break up, argueing over 12 lemons and a pool table, it may seem quite ridiculous because of its unrealisticism(is there such a word?) . Whereas for me, i feel that it is a movie and it's not gona be filming your typical break up story. I personally feel that it would be more appropriate if we draw parallels from it rather than hoping that it'll depict something closer to us. True? It is a film! Not a documentary. So stop hoping for something factual and typical.

Pause.

Ah well, just my 2 cents worth. The movie is worth you shelling out $7 . No less(cos we don't have a choice), no more( yea don't catch it on a weekend). It isn't that much to feast your eyes upon Jennifer Aniston and be entertained with Michelangelo's '16th chapel' instead of Sistine chapel!

A new found knowledge without Scientific explanation:

After eating durains, let the tap water run through part of a durain shell, wash your hands under the flow and you get a odour free pair of hands!

George Bernard Shaw quipped: "Most people don't take the time to think. I made an international reputation for myself by deciding to think twice a week".

Indeed,a constant reminder for myself.

I dislike CORS so much that i've been using avoiding tatic to stay away from this ridiculous system which the world class university has devised. As every semester passes, i find myself being in the strangest situations possible. Perhaps if by sheer luck that im no insecure human being, i would have been fine doing modules alone.Unfortunately, im not a super girl. I cannot bare the thought of walking into a LT alone, thereafter sit alone and probably try to make small talks with strangers . All that, so that i can be as of parasitic as i can to them to possibly free load a couple of assignments or notes.

The situation now is, i am short of one module. The modules clash..not just in one aspect but numerous. I have to take into consideration the clashes of exam dates, lecture times, tutorial times and sleeping times. Ok, so who said being an arts student was easy? Don't give me that bull that we're the slackers. Actually, it's only difficult because we try so hard to miraculously plan a dream-come-true 1/2/3 day week! ha.

So now, i have to give up bidding for NM2219 because i am outbidded..even though bidding has not closed. Can u believe it? The system actually told me to give up bissing since i only have freaking 368points. How smart is that? Or should i say, how ridiculous is that? BIDDING HASN'T CLOSE AND IM TOLD THAT IM OUTBIDDED. Annoying. Im totally so disinterested to know how incompetent this system is making me feel.
I want to take this module cos i told hunny pot to take it with me. Now,look at how stupid this makes me seem .

I don't know why, but i actually don't mind taking Film and History suddenly. Maybe cos that'll make us 3 similar modules. But im battling if it will be a silly way to plan my modules this way. Kinda like im taking so that i'll have enough modules as well as i won't be alone(and yes i can be with hunny pot!) . Alternatively, i should just go ahead and take Soci of Family with Uncle and Carol. But that'll mean i can't take it next sem(which has a better lecturer).

How now, brown cow?

I wondered when was the last i really went out on a shopping day.
I wondered when was the last i walked aimlessly holding someone's hands.
I wondered when was the last time i lugged loads of shopping bag.

With Vpost, my shopping experiences has become a unusual affair of anticipating for my goods to arrive. With Vpost, i find myself wanting to spend so uncontrollably. With Vpost, i might soon give up asking people to go shopping. With Vpost, people will stop asking me out. With Vpost, i've become a virtual shopper in distress.

Im still thinking if i should swipe the 80USD when i just did something similar 2weeks ago.

Shopper in Distress.
Help.
